An Insight In The World Of Black Hat SEO: Why Does Link Spamming Work?

Warning: The post you are about to read contains description of some techniques which if used might bring penalties for your website and may actually lose you money. I do not endorse the use of Black Hat SEO techniques, but I think that absolutely every SEO marketer should know about them and how they work

Link spamming. An awful practice done by shady marketers. The technique includes adding spam posts in forums, spam comments in blogs and spam comments in guest books. You would think that such a technique would be useless as Google is not very likely to give these links too much importance as they come from an irrelevant context. Here is where you are wrong and I will show you why.

All the links on the web pass Page Rank as long as they are not the nofollow type and as long as they do not come from banned domains. Why these links are usually useless is the fact that the Google search engine does not take into account only the backlinks themselves and the PR. There are approximately 200 factors that establish a SERP and the tons of spammy backlinks can only influence a few of them.

So how does a Black Hat SEO marketer use these backlinks. It is quite simple actually: instead of pointing the spammy links to the website he wants to promote, he points them at an intermediary. The value of the PR passed by an outgoing link depends by the number of outgoing links on that specific page, so the fewer the number of backlinks, the higher the value of the PR passed, so if this intermediary site only has one outgoing link to the promoted website, the maximum amount of PR is passed. The advantage of using this second site is the fact that it can be optimized for whatever keywords the marketer wishes. This second site acts like a funnel that gathers a high PR and transforms it all into a high PR, extremely relevant link.

Now let’s take the idea further ahead and instead of a funnel site, imagine a lot of them. You are already glimpsing on how Black Hat SEO works.

Thats a good Article really insightfull cheers

Link Spamming can only be successful for a short period of time. Google will eventually make changes to its algorithm and identify spammy links, just like it can identify reciprocal links and 3 way links now.
